Gender and diversity

Diversity: a key resource

“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1). As a university, we want to take advantage of the opportunities that diversity presents and are therefore committed to responsible and respectful treatment of a range of different values.

Our diversity management systems help us to identify differences and similarities between our stakeholders and critically reflect on our procedures. In this way, we can ensure equal access to resources such as education and employment for all.

Another important aspect: we are a female- and family-friendly organisation – with respect to both our staff and students. Thanks to our numerous initiatives, we are one of the companies in Austria that have been particularly successful in promoting women within the company: This is also confirmed by the equalitA seal of excellence.

In order to send a clear signal in relation to diversity, the university signed the Diversity Charter in 2013 – a voluntary pledge to respect and value all members of society

What is important to us

As a learning team, we are innovative, international and people-focused.

We equip our students with evidence-based knowledge with a strong practical focus so they can achieve academic success and enjoy excellent career prospects. We encourage and facilitate our people’s professional and personal development.

International outlook

The international nature of our teaching and research, as well as the training and continuing education opportunities we provide, help all of our stakeholders to prepare for the challenges of the future. The active dialogue between people of all ages within a vibrant community in Austria and around the world inspires us to provide them with innovative services.

Our relaxed, friendly campus culture is based on respect for the people who study and work at the university. Flat hierarchies, streamlined decision-making channels, flexible working arrangements and a strong service ethos foster team spirit and job satisfaction.
