Introduction
Every September we welcome a new intake of students for the full-time degree programme, which is taught exclusively in English. It covers the fundamentals of natural sciences, biomedicine and the applicable technologies in theory and in extensive laboratory practice. The Bachelor programme in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is divided into the following parts:
- Fundamentals of natural sciences
- Fundamentals of medicine and biology
- Analytics
- Biotechnology
- Bioprocess technology
- Quality management
- Fundamentals of business
- Communication and social skills
- Practical work in industry and research
Key skills
Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing sectors internationally, and demand is strong for qualified experts, managers and researchers. Biotechnology offers potential solutions to many of the pressing problems current facing medicine. The development of antibodies for use in arthritis therapy, and the new technologies for skin transplants and cartilage generation have dramatically improved the quality of life of millions of patients worldwide. And these are only the first outstanding successes of a discipline that is still in its youth.
