IMC Krems among the best in CHE university ranking

In the renowned CHE university ranking, the study programmes Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Applied Chemistry at IMC Krems achieved excellent results. They landed in the top group among German-speaking universities in almost all categories.

In the renowned CHE university ranking, the study programmes Medial and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Applied Chemistry at IMC Krems achieved excellent results.

IMC Krems scores across the board. The facts about studying and research were rated in the top group in all categories that could be queried. In the category “support at the beginning of studies”, the Institute of Biotechnology achieved 10 out of 14 points. 100% of the bachelor’s and master’s students in Biotechnology obtained their degrees in a reasonable time. Contacts with professional practice and third-party funding per professor were also rated highly. Among the student evaluations, study organisation, premises, practical relevance and offers for career orientation were particularly good.

Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

In Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, both the bachelor’s and master’s programmes were examined. The students give IMC Krems particularly good marks in the following categories: general study situation, support during studies, study organisation, examinations, career orientation offers, practical relevance, premises, library equipment, IT infrastructure and laboratory practice. The average grade is an outstanding 1.65. 
Among the facts about studies and research, all criteria, contacts to professional practice, support at the beginning of studies and research funds per professor, also land in the top group. In addition, both programmes have 100% graduation rates in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, IMC Krems is ranked in the top group 15 times in Biotechnology and three times in the middle group, making it the best university of applied sciences in Austria in this subject.

Applied Chemistry

The bachelor’s programme Applied Chemistry as a new study programme could not yet be evaluated in every respect – at the time of the surveys there were no graduates yet. With their assessments, the students placed the general study situation, study organisation, career orientation offers, practical relevance, premises, IT infrastructure and laboratory practice in the top group. The average grade is 1.8. Contact with professional practice, support at the beginning of studies and research funds per professor were also ranked top.

With around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities examined, the university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) is the most comprehensive and detailed comparison in the German-speaking world. IMC Krems was evaluated in Biotechnology and Applied Chemistry in 2022. The CHE University Ranking reports student assessments as well as facts about teaching and research. The universities are divided into a top, a middle and a bottom group for each subject and criterion.
