Language training at IMC Krems

Welcome to the world of languages – and to one of Austria’s most international universities of applied sciences!

Top-quality English skills are part of the package with our English-language bachelor and master programmes. What’s more, additional courses in the main languages of global business play a key part in some of our international bachelor degree programmes. You also have the opportunity to obtain certificates in English, German and Spanish at our Language Competence Center.

From C for Chinese to R for Russian

Whether you’re a beginner or already at an advanced level, there’s always something new to learn!

Many of our degree programmes are designed to help you develop top-quality English language skills – after all, over 40% of our programmes are taught entirely in English. A real bonus for anyone looking to start out on an international career!

Students on the Export-oriented Management and Tourism and Leisure Management bachelor programmes take an elective in one of the leading business languages, developing and perfecting their skills throughout their degree.

Language courses and certificates

Learning the fun way: we like to make achieving your language learning goals as enjoyable as possible. You’ll learn in small groups taught by qualified staff – either in the university’s excellently equipped teaching rooms or online in the comfort of your own home.

Business language courses that lay the foundations for an international career are an integral part of the curriculum.

If you’re interested in applying for our English-language International Business Management or Tourism and Leisure Management bachelor programme, you’re spoilt for choice – the curriculum includes courses in an additional language. You can choose from French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese or German for beginners, all taught to level A1. For more advanced learners, we also offer level B1 courses in French and Spanish.

Whichever you choose, after three years’ training you’ll be able to communicate effectively and confidently in your selected language.

These language courses are only available to students on the Export-oriented Management and Tourism and Leisure Management bachelor programmes.

Supplementary courses for students

Interested in cementing and broadening your language skills before starting your English-language degree? Or do you want to boost your proficiency in your selected language after an exchange semester and get in shape for the final year of your degree programme?

Thanks to our comprehensive range of language courses, you’re certain to achieve your learning goals with us. Throughout the year, we offer a range of courses in various languages for freshers as well as students at a more advanced stage of their degree. These courses are not part of the curriculum, so course fees apply.

International language qualifications at IMC Krems

If you need proof of your language proficiency or would like to see where you stand in terms of your language skills, a language certificate is your best choice. At present, besides the Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (ÖSD) certificate, students can take the globally recognised International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) exams at our university.

IELTS is ideal for prospective students aiming to achieve the proficiency level required for one of our English-language degree programmes, while both certificates can help students and graduates to hone their skills with a view to getting ahead on the job market. Non-students can also take the certificates. Students receive special conditions, including the Austrian National Union of Students subsidy for the IELTS test.
