Strengthening ties with Vietnamese Institutions of Higher Education
IMC Krems: During their most recent visit in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, Dr. Heinz Boyer, CEO IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, and Dr. Karl Ennsfellner, IMC’s Vice Rector, were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Thiện Nhân. From the fruitful talks it emerged that a comprehensive strategy for the delivery of practice-oriented Higher Education is of paramount interest. The Deputy PM underlined IMC’s important role in this process.
In this context, IMC’s Master programmes being offered in Hanoi add to this as well as the new Master degree programme in Tourism and Leisure Management which is about to start in Hue at the end of this month. This prominent programme financed by the Vietnamese government gathers carefully selected students in a government initiative called “Programme 165 Management Training”.
Graduates are to be expected in summer 2013. Furthermore, a Master degree programme in Business Administration, offered in affiliation with Vietnam University of Commerce and Saigon University in Ho Chi Minh City will be launched over the next weeks.
Furthermore, exploratory discussions were held in Vietnam’s economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City, with representatives from Eastern International University as well as from the industry and local people’s committees.
“Our outstanding co-operation with Vietnam will raise Austria’s commercial profile in Asia and the quality in the Higher Education sector,” Boyer commented. In his view, establishing a university of applied sciences specialising in tourism could be one of the next milestones in this co-operation.
Karl Ennsfellner said: “The co-operation with various institutions of Higher Education in Vietnam illustrates a core element in IMC’s internationalisation strategy. Demand for our expertise in transnational education is rising in our target markets, and IMC is regarded as a guarantor for academic and managerial quality. That is due mainly to our openness to innovative product development and cutting-edge concepts for tourism development.”
