Practice orientation: IMC export students had guest lecture with Erich Neuwirth, TNT Express Austria

IMC lecturer Maria Surboeck had the honour to welcome TNT's HR Manager Erich Neuwirth

The company received the Trigos Award in 2008. The top management consists of 30% female decision makers. Although 10% of the entire staff is over 50, the average age is 27.

Excerpt of student comment concerning Mr. Neuwirth's speech:

"During my studies at the IMC so far I have heard and read a lot about sophisticated organizational structures such as 'The Learning Organziation', 'Human Capital driven business environments', 'Diversity Management' etc. I always tried to critically question those concepts by raising thoughts such as 'In the background of profit-maximization and shareholders well-being do they really exist?' or 'Do they exist even in little Austria as reference was usually made to companies in Scandinavia or the US?' The more I was therefore impressed when listening to Mr Neuwirth's presentation last Friday about TNT's successful implementation of a diversity based organizational structure. It was really a demonstration that over the long run diversity management will be necessary for continuity of organizations. Thank you both Ms Surböck and Mr Neuwirth for allowing us the time and opportunity for practical learning to take place."
