DOKA excursion

back to overview

It’s high time for IMC Krems students of the export institute to get to meet people from interesting organisations again. Lecturer Maria Surboeck, MAS, organised the site visit.

December 15, 2011: All students from the third semester Export-Oriented bachelor programme as part of the lecture “Management Simulation” had the unique opportunity to meet Maria Tagwerker-Sturm, Innovation Manager at Doka Group in Amstetten.

The Doka Group's success as a global supplier of advanced system formwork technology is sustained by an all-encompassing strategically orientated innovation process. Following this vision it is obvious that innovation for Doka is not just a buzz word, but really is a driving force to stay competitive in a global environment.

In 2010, the Doka Group employed a workforce numbering 5238 on average. With more than 140 distribution and logistics facilities in 70 countries, it is one of the world's leading "full-line" formwork suppliers.

After a tour through a very impressive exhibition hall where students could actually develop an understanding of the products and services Doka offers, and the presentation by Maria Tagwerker-Sturm discussions were continued while enjoying some refreshments and sandwiches. Maybe not innovative, but nevertheless highly welcomed by all attending students.

And to conclude with the pioneer of all innovation theories: "Times of innovation are times of effort and sacrifice, of work for the future, while the harvest comes after. The harvest is gathered under recessive symptoms and with more anxiety than rejoicing.…[During] recession…much dead wood disappears". (Schumpeter, 1939)
