Celebrations from Krems to Azerbaijan: 2012 graduation ceremonies at the IMC Krems

- Students from the Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology bachelor programme celebrated their graduation together with IMC Rector Prof. Eva Werner.
Just under 500 graduates of the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems have been awarded their degrees at 12 separate graduation ceremonies taking place at Kloster Und, Krems from 2-6 July, 2012. Similar ceremonies were also be taking place in Azerbaijan, China and Vietnam.
Over 4,000 graduates
The award of degrees to almost 500 new graduates brings the number of IMC Krems alumni to over 4,000 since the university was founded in 1994. A total of 183 students received master degrees in Business Administration and E-Business Management, Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Health Management, Tourism and Leisure Management, and Export-Oriented Management.
International agreement paves the way for double degrees
15 graduates from the institutes Tourism Management, Export Management and Business Administration had a double cause for celebration. After completing double degree programmes, they were awarded academic qualifications by both the IMC Krems and the partner universities where they spent time during their studies. The IMC Krems currently has double degree agreements with Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden; Fachhochschule Deggendorf, Germany; Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, Spain; Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, both in Helsinki, Finland; and Rouen Business School in France.
Ceremonies in Azerbaijan, China and Vietnam
From the outset, the IMC Krems has been fully committed to internationalisation and has entered into a number of partnerships with universities abroad. For the past few years bachelor and master degree programmes based on the IMC Krems’ quality assurance guidelines have been offered at Qingdao University in China; Krok University in Kiev, Ukraine; Hue University and the Vietnam University of Commerce, both in Vietnam; and the Tourism Institute in Baku, Azerbaijan. By September this year, around 100 new graduates from these universities will have received degree certificates bearing the “IMC seal of approval”.
Prominent guests
Numerous high-profile speakers were taking part in the ceremonies in Krems, including Wolfgang Sobotka, Deputy Provincial Governor of Lower Austria. A total of more than 3,000 guests and many representatives from the worlds of research, politics and business were also in attendance.
Studying at the IMC Krems
“The degree programmes we offer stand out for their high quality, practical relevance, and courses that incorporate the latest research findings. This ensures that in the course of their degrees, students acquire all of the skills and abilities they need to work autonomously in complex situations. As a result we give students a head start on their career path – be it in Austria or abroad,” explains IMC Rector Prof. Eva Werner. Some 1,900 students from more than 50 countries were enrolled at the University in the 2011/12 academic year.
Prospective business, health management and life sciences professionals can apply for places on selected degree programmes until 31 July 2012.
