My expectations towards the Bachelor’s programme Tourism & Leisure Management at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems were huge. Nevertheless, after one year I can say that they were not only met, but the IMC Krems even exceeded my expectations. The “internationality” of this University of Applied Sciences and especially of the programme Tourism & Leisure Management is unique in Austria: all courses are held in English, two further foreign languages have to be chosen, an obligatory internship in a foreign country has to be done, you have the possibility to do an international exchange semester, international guest lecturers regularly visit the IMC Krems, and furthermore there is the great opportunity to get to know exchange students from all over the world at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems. In combination with the practice-oriented classes, which are held in small groups, this makes me confident that I will achieve all my professional visions in my life.

The IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems distinguishes itself in particular due to its international orientation; hence, the Bachelor’s programme Tourism & Leisure Management so far has been full of enriching cross-cultural experiences. For instance, I was given the opportunity to spend an exchange semester in Mexico and a practical training semester in France. I also appreciate that classes are held in small groups by professional lecturers, which results in a high quality of lectures. Moreover, I consider it advantageous that IMC Krems focuses on a practice- oriented learning methods, since this is the best training for real business life situations.

I decided to apply for the Bachelor’s programme Tourism & Leisure Management at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems not only because of the university’s unique location in the heart of Austria’s wine-growing district Wachau, a one-hour drive from Vienna, but also due to its appealing programme offers. When looking back it was the mixture of attaining a fundamental body of knowledge in business, in-depth education in the field of tourism and the international orientation of the university that I appreciated most about IMC Krems. I got the chance to learn Russian and Spanish, I went to Helsinki for two semesters in order to do a double degree in hotel management and I also worked in an event management company for six months in Barcelona. Three wonderful years of professional as well as personal growth - the basis of a successful career!

The main reason why I have decided to study the Bachelor’s programme Tourism & Leisure Management at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems was the special international flair this university has to offer. It is not only the mixture of international students, but also the variety of lecturers from all over the world with their business experience that make this university so special. Its competence provides us with the business- orientated experience we will need for the internships and our working lives later on. The guest lecturers enable us to build up an international network that will be helpful when looking for our work placements even future jobs. Furthermore, IMC Krems is giving me the chance to live a dream and spend an exchange semester in Madrid to improve my Spanish skills. I have made many positive experiences studying at IMC Krems and I am sure that I will be well prepared for my future career.

While doing a training in hotel management in Frankfurt, Germany I learned that the Finance Manager at the hotel is an IMC-alumni and he strongly advised me to consider studying here. When visiting the Open House I was highly impressed by the international flair, the comprehensive curriculum and the exceptional enthusiasm of students and faculty alike and so I decided to enrol. After having done an exchange semester in Geneva I am now spending my Practical Training Semester in the field of hotel consulting in Warsaw.
