When is the admission deadline for 2011/12?

  • 16 May 2011 for EU Citizens

  • 30 April 2011 for Non-EU Citizens

What are the entrance requirements for a bachelor’s programme?
You need a general entrance qualification for universities or its equivalent from abroad. The certificate of a high school graduation (A-levels) can be submitted later. In this case please attach a copy of your latest annual school report and a confirmation - issued by your school - with the exact denomination of the qualification that you will achieve.

When do I know that I have met the entrance requirements?
By e-mail we confirm the receipt of your application and – if it applies - inform you about documents that should be submitted later. With the invitation to take part in the admission procedure you receive information regarding your compliance with the entrance requirements.

Do I have to attend the lectures?
There is obligatory attendance at the IMC University of Applied Sciences. For the full-time format, lectures take place from Monday through to Friday and also occasionally on Saturdays.

Can you get accreditation of skills/knowledge already acquired?
At the start of a term students have the possibility to apply for an accreditation of prior skills/knowledge (incl. a proof) Further information can be obtained at the start of the programme.

Can I apply for more than one programme?
Yes, you can but only do so if you are really interested in a further programme.
With multiple applications for bachelor's programmes please indicate your priorities. Furthermore submit separate letters of motivation for each chosen bachelor's programme.

What is a letter of motivation?
Let us know in writing about your personal motivation for choosing a particular bachelor's programme. The letter must be written in the main language of instruction of the programme.

Can I enter at a higher semester?
Principally yes. Applicants who wish to enter a programme at a later stage have to submit the registration documents as well as proof of their academic success to assess the level of entrance. From then on, the admission procedure is as usual. When applying please submit an appeal to enter the programme at a higher semester.
It can only be granted if there are places available.

When are the admission dates for September 2011?
Dates for the admission procedure will be from March until the end of June 2011. Should you already know that you will not be available at certain times let us know under separate cover. Dates for the admission interviews in June will mainly be in the last week of the month due to the final exams before a committee at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems.

How will my English skills be evaluated?
Your English language skills will be verified in the admission procedure. Either you hand in one of the listet certificates (Common European Framework of Reference - B2) or an academic record or you get invited to an English-test at the IMC University of Applied Sciences in Krems.

Is prior knowledge required with the other languages?
With Spanish, Italian, Russian and Chinese you can start from the beginning. In French level B 1 (see Common European Framework of Reference) is required, which corresponds to appr. 3 years of French.

Is it difficult to get accepted?
Because of the limited number of state-funded study places, applicants have to pass the IMC admission procedure. The bachelor's programme Tourism & Leisure Management offers 60 study places full-time and 25 study places part-time.

What are my employment prospects after graduating?
Because all of the degree programmes have been developed in close conjunction with industry experts, the job prospects for students at Universities of Applied Sciences are generally very good. The transition between graduating and starting work is very easy.

Christmas: 24/12 – 6/1 (around 2 weeks)
Semester vacation: (3 weeks)
Easter vacation: (10 days)
Summer vacation: End of June to the middle of September
